About Dominical Construction
A Developing Story
We never intended to start a construction company!
Juan Carlos Alfaro Delgado, and Dennis Garber joined efforts in 2009 to construct a house for Dennis and his wife. A neighbor requested assistance to build one for him, with a pool, and then later two small rental houses. Many remodel projects and additions, roof replacements, outdoor kitchens and many small projects soon followed due to demand. Then another house was requested by another neighbor, and soon thereafter it seemed that things just kept going; people loved our work, our dedication to working out the right design for the site to capture airflow for natural ventilation, and our dedication to details and professional delivery. We never intended to start a construction company!
A growing company
Considering the rapidly growing demand in this area for quality construction, in late 2020 we decided to get serious about growing the company. Early in 2021 we started construction on a 478-meter house, pool, and rancho near Punto de Mira about 3.5 km north of Lagunas de Baru, in the mountains above Dominical. Design conflicts with the architect selected by the owner led us to subsequently begin to work closely with our own design team, who are now an integral part of our efforts.
The Right & Best way
We much prefer to begin our work with customers at or before their selection of land on which to build. Many complex parts need to come together correctly to deliver livable dwellings. We strive for naturally ventilated homes, with good shading and sound environmental considerations, and robust infrastructure to deal with rainwater drainage, eliminate erosion, and to create a project with a natural long life and a focus on minimal maintenance. We always produce the highest quality products, and never cut corners in any way that would compromise the structural integrity or quality of the finished product. We believe that with a company having both Tico and Gringo leadership, we can achieve better results.

Retired Company Founder
Dennis has worked in the construction field most of his life beginning in summers when in high school and college working on framing and drywall crews. In the late 1970’s he operated a small construction company in Atlanta specializing in complex remodeling projects, but soon moved on to work in project management for larger commercial contractors, including a stint in managing a part of the construction department for a large regional medical center in North Georgia undergoing a major expansion. In the early 1990’s, he moved to Charlotte to build two hotels for some Atlanta investors. Hotel renovations, and soon new hotel construction became his sole focus. As a director of construction for some smaller companies, and later as a senior project manager for a national chain, he developed prototype hotel designs at several price points with architectural firms in Dallas, Chicago, and St. Louis. He has been involved in the construction of over 200 hotels, with over a billion dollars of successful construction management in his resume. His focus has always been on high quality work, and he has never, ever, been the “low price guy.”
